Santa Woes

My daughter is a regular Carmen San Diego (in case you missed this 1980s pop culture reference, she is a mysterious detective).

Anyway, Adelaide found her Christmas presents yesterday. She was so excited to see the Angelina Ballerina doll that we got her for Christmas. She eagerly grabbed up the box, looked at me and exclaimed "Mommy, Lina!"

And, I had to sit there like the Grinch that I am and break her heart. "No, baby," I answered, "That is for somebody else." Well, my almost two-year old was not having it. Ryan threw a sweatshirt over it and took her to her room to watch "Lina" hoping that she would forget about the doll. Little did he know that as soon as he walked out she would sneak back into our bedroom and remove the sweatshirt. Luckily for me, I was on the bed and she didn't notice me in her haste to see her Christmas presents again.
So, needless to say, I've got to find a better hiding place. But, for now, I have one broken hearted baby who does not realize that she will get her "Lina" on Christmas morning. Poor thing! Here's to hoping that all of those rumors that little kids forget everything are true!

Merry Christmas

Hi everyone! I know that I have been slow (ok non-existent) with my blogging activities. I blame that all on my lost camera cord and the fact that I have zero time for anything fun, including blogging. But, better late than never right?

My sweet friend Rachel took some Christmas pics for us and I had to share the best family one! If you want to see some more, check our her blog at http://www.blushbyrachelblog.com/. She is such a talent! And, I just happen to love her (and her whole family) so a little plug for her up and coming photography business suits me just fine!

Addie is growing up! She is not the baby girl that I used to know, but a full blown walking/running/talking toddler. She is very independent and lets you know exactly what she wants and what she doesn't. Lately, we have fought every morning about what she is going to wear: "No Mommy, I don't want that jacket." "No Mommy, I want my boots." You get the drift. So, needless to say, I am letting her "help" with choosing her outfits. I swear, I did not realize that I had a 13 year old living with me!

I have a new camera and a new video camera and I PROMISE to post more stuff. But, for now, I'll leave you with this pic:

Fun at the Zoo

So, Sunday seemed like a great day to take Addie to the zoo for the first time. The weather was gorgeous, only a little bit cloudy. And, it wasn't too hot, which was great. Addie's cousins -- Caitlin, Cole and Amelia Kate -- were on hand as personal guides for the event. Caitlin and Amelia Kate ("the earring girls") rode in a wagon while Cole pushed/pulled. And, Addie got a special seat in her "Cadillac" stroller. She loved the monkeys and the giraffes. She also loved riding the train. She kept pointing and throwing animal crackers at the animals. I guess she thought they were hungry? She obviously was because she ate the ENTIRE time were were there! ha!

Anyway, first zoo outing was a success. I will say, I was impressed with the Baton Rouge Zoo. They have a new Tiger exhibit that was really great. And, it was very clean and the animals looked healthy and happy. And, the area has so many trees that the entire zoo is in the shade!

Mardi Gras Mambo

Addie turns 1 on February 9, 2010. I know . . . where has the time gone? Ryan and I are throwing her a Mardi Gras ball at our house, complete with King Cake, beads and a Mardi Gras Parade. To get ready for the party, I had Addie's picture taken in downtown Baton Rouge in her Mardi Gras float. It was freezing outside! She was such a trooper. The pics came out great (taken by my friend Michelle Boutte). I am including the link to the shutterfly album. Hopefully it works!

Halloween

Well , Addie had her first Halloween experience. She was a bumble-bee and was hilarious. She had a fall fest parade at school where she and the other infants in her class went to different candy stations and "trick-or-treated." Me, Leenie and Auntie BB got to go along with her. The pics that are attached are ones taken by Auntie BB. Obviously it was Addie's naptime, so she really wasn't that into it. But, she looked cute. On Halloween night, we went to see Caitlin at her house for pics and candy. Then we went trick or treating with Cole and Amelia Kate at their house. Actually, Addie just assisted in handing out candy in her costume, but she had fun anyway!

Easter

Yes, I know this is really late, but we've been a busy crew! Addie's first Easter was so much fun! We had Good Friday with the McLins and then off to Rayville for Saturday and Easter Sunday with the Jordans. This was Addie's first real trip to Rayville, so, of course, we had to have a party. This party was complete with an easter egg hunt for the kids, most of which are in their 20s, which was hilarious!

My little sports fan

If you haven't noticed . . . Addie looks just like her Daddy. And, much to my fear, she is starting to act just like him too! I have caught Ryan explaining the intricacies of a 3-3-5 football defense, who Matt Mauck is and how he came to LSU, the secrets behind the Tigers many baseball championships, and the mechanics behind Tiger Woods' golf swing. Ryan is also constantly asking Addie to show him her golf grip. Now, of course, Addie prefers to watch March Madness, the Braves and the Masters with her Daddy than catching a great Lifetime or Hallmark movie with her Momma! Here are some pics of Addie watching golf with her Daddy. You can also see from these pics how much they look alike!
